My heart raced as I stared at the tiny piece of jewelry in my hand, overwhelmed with anger, hurt, and confusion. How could Ryan betray me like this? I needed answers, and I needed them immediately.Ryan was in the living room playing video games, his shouts of excitement echoing through the house. I clenched the earring in my hand and stormed into the room, blocking his view of the TV.
“Kelly, sweetheart, you’re blocking my game. I can’t see anything,” Ryan said, his eyes still glued to the screen.
My frustration boiled over. “Don’t you have something to tell me?” I demanded, my voice shaking with barely controlled anger.
Ryan looked up at me, puzzled. “What do you mean? I’m afraid I need more specifics.”
I took a deep breath, holding up the earring so he could see it. “What is THIS doing in our bedroom?”
Ryan’s face went blank, genuine confusion crossing his features as he struggled to find the right words. “I don’t know, I’ve never seen it before.”
